Local SEO in Morocco: How to Get Your Business Found on Google (2026 Checklist)

When someone in Casablanca searches “dentist near me” or “restaurant Marrakech”, Google shows a map with three businesses and then a list of websites. Local SEO is the work that puts your business in that map and in that list.

The good news: most Moroccan businesses still do the basics badly, so doing them well is often enough to stand out.

Step 1 — Claim and complete your Google Business Profile

  • Create or claim your profile on Google Business Profile — it is free.
  • Choose the most precise main category (for example “Dental clinic”, not “Health”).
  • Add opening hours, phone, WhatsApp link, website and real photos.
  • Write a description that says what you do and which city or neighbourhood you serve.
  • Post updates or offers regularly — an active profile looks trustworthy.

Step 2 — Get real reviews and answer them

Reviews are one of the strongest local ranking signals, and they convince customers. Ask every happy client with a short link on WhatsApp. Reply to every review — positive or negative — politely and quickly. Never buy fake reviews: Google removes them and can suspend the profile.

Step 3 — Make your website speak your customers' language

Moroccans search in French, Arabic, Darija and English. A page in French will not rank for an Arabic search. Real translated pages — not an automatic translate button — let Google show the right language to the right person. Each language needs its own address (for example /fr/) and hreflang tags so Google understands they belong together.

Step 4 — One page per service and per city

A single “Services” page cannot rank for everything. Create a clear page for each main service, and for important cities if you really serve them. Each page needs a unique title, description, and useful content — not the same text with the city name changed.

Step 5 — Keep your name, address and phone identical everywhere

Your business name, phone and address should be exactly the same on your website, Google profile, Facebook, Instagram and directories. Small differences confuse Google.

Step 6 — Add structured data

Structured data is a small piece of code that tells Google your business type, phone, hours and location in a language it reads perfectly. Here is a simple example for a local business:

local-business-schema.html
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "LocalBusiness",
  "name": "Your Business Name",
  "telephone": "+212 600-000000",
  "url": "https://yourwebsite.ma",
  "address": {
    "@type": "PostalAddress",
    "addressLocality": "Casablanca",
    "addressCountry": "MA"
  },
  "openingHours": "Mo-Sa 09:00-19:00",
  "sameAs": [
    "https://www.instagram.com/yourbusiness",
    "https://www.facebook.com/yourbusiness"
  ]
}
</script>

Step 7 — Speed, mobile and Search Console

  • Test your site on a phone: text readable, buttons easy to tap, nothing jumping around.
  • Compress images — they are the first reason Moroccan sites are slow.
  • Connect Google Search Console and submit your sitemap to see which searches bring visitors.

Common mistakes that keep you off page one

  • Only an Instagram page, no website.
  • The whole site in one language when customers search in two.
  • Pages without titles and descriptions, or the same title everywhere.
  • No reviews, or reviews left unanswered for months.

Frequently asked questions

How long does local SEO take to work?

A complete Google Business Profile can bring calls within weeks. Ranking website pages usually takes two to six months, depending on competition in your city and sector.

Should my website be in French, Arabic or both?

Follow your customers. If they search in both languages, you need both — as real pages with their own addresses. Start with the language that brings the most customers today.

Do I need a .ma domain?

A .ma domain can help show that you are a Moroccan business, but it is not required. A .com with clear Moroccan content, address and phone also works well.

Is paid advertising better than SEO?

Ads bring visitors immediately but stop when you stop paying. SEO takes longer but keeps bringing visitors for free. Most businesses use both: ads to start, SEO to grow.
